I love Natural Abstracts and when i first came to know about this magnificent place, some years ago, decided that one day i would dedicate a series of paitings to its beauty and magic.
Antelope Canyon is located on Navajo Nation Land and is a sacred place to their people. It's easy to understand why they consider it sacred and started to protect it after finding it in 1930. The erosion on the sanstone, caused by so many flasfloods along the centuries opened corridors and smoothed hard edges, creating forms in a way that we get the feeling some higher power sculpted it so we never forget how small we are. When the light enters from above and reaches those amazing forms here and there, magic happens. The play of light and shadow creates illusions that trick the eye, and if you move some inches the illusion changes to something else.
